Reading Notes: [[Larned's American Indian Fairy Tales, Part B]]

[SOME SPOILERS]
1. The Boy Who Snared the Sun: No story ideas.

2. The Boy Who Snared the Sun (Cont.): No story ideas.
3. The Boy Who Snared the Sun (End): "...silver arrows with which he chased darkness from the valley." Man uses precious stoned arrows.

  • Look up type of stones. Also, the meaning of those stones and etc.
  • Come up with a battle of some sort (or something else that will include the stone arrows).
  • An-ne-mee-kee the thunder, causes thunderstorms. Who is this person? Go into detail about An-ne-mee-kee.
4. How the Summer Came: The permanent winter (working title?). No more summer, what it is like to live with no summer? Child causes summer to happen again by making the sun.

5. How the Summer Came (Cont.): A lot of stories seem to connect together. It's strange.
6. How the Summer Came (End): Three eyed Manito.

  • One eye glows red when angered, one eye glows blue when sad, and one eye glows yellow when happy.
  • Three instances that brought about each emotion.
  • Seer of some sort? Maybe a villain?
Again, I never expected the majority of the stories I read this week to connect together like they have. It's oddly amazing.
7. The Fairy Bride: Puk-widgies, mysterious fairies.

  • Bring in famous photo from the 1900's
  • American Indian Fairies-KeyWordHut
  • How the little girls tricked the fairies into taking photos. Make girls Indian to tie into the storytelling. Maybe put them on a reservation of some sort.
Trickster fairies- Mischievous interactions (think Indian in the Cupboard). The fairies were trapped in a cupboard for hundreds of years, only to be freed in modern times. They cause trouble until Neen (modernized name)comes back puts them back again.
8. The Fairy Bride (Cont.): No story ideas.

I know it seems like I haven't read the stories. I have and I have enjoyed them very much. I just came down with some wicked head cold/chest thing (don't know what it is). So, therefore my brain has shut down completely through the majority of today's assignment. At least I got SOMETHING...#death
